It’s time for the seasonal OP/ED roundup! I want to hear about your favorite OPs and EDs for the season (alternatively, your least favorites!). If you are looking for a collection of them all for this season, you can find almost all of them at the link below:
Just a note that you can absolutely use this thread like you would any other general discussion thread. So, feel free to post questions/comments/recommendations like any other week.
As always, remember to be mindful of spoilers. If you want to know more about how to handle spoilers in this community, check the guide here (also linked in the sidebar).
Nyaa!
I don’t really have many shows I am watching this season, so basically my whole list is from shows I am not watching. Overall, nothing really jumped out at me as the OP/ED of the season, but there were still some fun ones mixed in:
Shows that I will watch eventually…

Songs
No songs from the shows I’m following this season stood out TBH.
Some parts of the following songs are kinda catchy, but none of them are strong enough as a whole for me to add them to my playlist:
This Season
I picked up Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?!. This is slop, but it is so entertaining.
Even though it is slop, the characters are not braindead IMO. Characters behaved and reacted to the various situations with common sense for the most parts. I also like how it is not an isekai. Too many of such stories are needlessly isekai when they could have simply be fantasies like this one. Ironically, its opening song is titled “Reincarnation”.
I don’t see it being a frontrunner this season, but it’s enjoyable enough for me to not drop it.
Past Seasons
I completed the rest of Yuru Camp season 1. It is pretty cute and comfy. Nothing is happening, since it leans hard into the slice-of-life aspects, but the comedic moments are funny enough to keep my attention. I’d give it an
87 / 10Edit: but not enough to watch the rest of it.
I’m not particularly impressed with fall season themes, but I did enjoy some of them.
This season
Last week I dropped *Towa no Yuugure*, *This Monster Wants to Eat Me*, *Ninja vs. Gokudo*, and *May I Ask for One Final Thing?* However, I decided to stick with *Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days*. Third episode was an improvement for me, and then Kiyoko charmed me with her square mouth faces. Seems like Yano has finally fallen for her charm as well.
I’m only watching two series this season - May I Ask For One Final Thing? (which is still entertaining) and My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me (which hasn’t quite reached the level at which I’ll drop it). They both have good if not great OPs, and the ED for May I Ask is completely different from the OP, but equally good.
Of past seasons…
I’m in the middle of doing something I haven’t done for years - watching an anime that’s so good but so tragic that I can’t watch more than an episode or two before needing to take a break with something else
The anime is Bokurano, and it’s very good and very difficult. It’s not just broadly tragic - it’s a fairly episodic story and every episode is bittersweet at best in and of itself. So I can’t make it more than an episode or two before I need a counter. Which has been kind of interesting actually.
The first anime I turned to as a counter ended up taking over, and I watched it all the way through in two sittings. Asobi Asobase is without a doubt the funniest anime I’ve ever seen. I mean - right this moment, all I have to do is think of the words “butt laser” and I start laughing again.
Then I spent a while watching an assortment of episode 1s in between episodes of Bokurano before getting hooked into Ao-chan Can’t Study, which is a good example of one of my favorite niche genres - wholesome ecchi. It’s essentially a romcom between two awkward people, with the gimmick that the FMC - Ao-chan - is awkward because she’s the only child of a famous erotica author who has no filter at all, so she has a very vivid imagination that leaves her alternately defensive and embarrassed, much to the dismay of the well-meaning MMC.
Then I knocked around for a bit more (in between episodes of Bokurano) before settling into Sono Bisque Doll, which has been on my TBW for a while now, and is low key and amusing and surprisingly cute.
And I’m about ready for another episode of Bokurano.
I’m just catching up with a couple of shows.
Mushoku Eiyuu is pretty bad. The OP is decent though. The MC’s overpowered-ness, awful animation, sexist humorless writing. It’s a drop after 3 episodes.
Ganglion is very low key humor. More a straight rendition of Japanese office behavior and the absurdity of being an evil org minion than any attempt at being outrageously funny. The 3 minute episode format works against the storytelling. It’s probably best to “binge”.
The only song of note for me currently is “Let’s Just Crash” the second OP of Gachiakuta. Everything else in the shows I’m watching is so generic that I’m honestly unable to match a song to a show if I hear it.
